The Best Sledding Hills in Ottawa
It is certainly time to embrace winter, get those toboggans out, and hit your local tobogganing hill! Here is a list of 5 great tobogganing hills in Ottawa to visit this weekend.
#1: Bruce Pit
Address: 175 Cedarview Rd., Ottawa, ON
You can also bring your furry friends to the area and use the dog park trails as well. Fun for the entire family! Great daytime sledding, but it is not lit at night. An official NCC trail.
#2: Carlington Park
Address: 1640 Laperriere Ave, Ottawa, ON
Get ready for one massive tobogganing hill at Carlington Park! You can choose to only go halfway up the hill with younger children too. This is not an NCC trail.
#3: Conroy Park
Address: Conroy Rd., Ottawa, ON
This is an official NCC trail. Not only can you toboggan during the day, but it is also lit at night.
#4: Green's Creek
Address: Bearbrook Rd., Ottawa, ON
Green’s Creek starts at the Ottawa River in the east end of Ottawa. It is an area of unusual geology, with steep-sided ravines and plateaus. The area has 5.5 kilometers of trails for hiking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. In winter, the toboggan hill provides fun for the whole family. This is an official NCC trail.
#5: Vincent Massey Park
Address: Heron Road, Ottawa, ON
While this is a tobogganing hill I have not been to, this is one that is within walking distance of Mooney's Bay and is a big smaller (and perhaps a little less busy?)
Safety Information from the NCC
Have a fun and safe time tobogganing. Please follow these rules and safety tips:
Always use caution when sledding, and keep to the sides when climbing up the hills.
It is recommended that children be equipped with appropriate protective head gear.
Snowboarding and jumping (off snow bumps) are not permitted.
Stay off the toboggan hills when they are closed.
Users toboggan at their own risk at all times.
Locate these hills on our #WinterCapital interactive map.
Temporary Closures
Throughout the winter, toboggan hills may be temporarily closed when conditions deteriorate and pose a hazard to users. When toboggan hills are closed, signs are posted at the hill, and a closure announcement is posted on our website.
